Here’s the deal…I cannot find the Christmasing part of my brain. It is somehow beyond my reach. Are you having that same problem?? Thank goodness for online shopping and Amazon Prime or this family wouldn’t be getting anything this year. True story.
If you are struggling with the same problem I would like to help you out a little. So here are a few quick ideas for gifts that are quick, cheap, and easy. (Refrain from any crude jokes in the comments…think them in your head people.)
Let’s start off with the dudes. My husband’s response when I asked what he would want if he could have anything was, “a clean house, polite kids for a day, a 12 pack of Pepsi, a bag full of ice, my comfy chair, and some good food….oh and a movie.” Gotta love a simple man. I’m thinking I can get that for him for sure! (Kids can be bribed!)
Now you have to know something, the guys in my life hunt, fish, work on stuff with their hands, and my husband doesn’t like organized sports or electronics. This list may be a little different than most. 😉 I also have the cutest son-in-law who is pretty much like his father-in-law only he likes weight lifting and football.
I bought ONE OF THESE last year for my guy and we have LOVED it!
Um there is nothing sexier than a man in plaid flannel…call me crazy if you will…and here’s one of our favorite’s.
Except for maybe a man cutting some wood for a project you’ve asked him to do. That’s why THIS is a good idea. (Imagine your guy wearing plaid flannel while sawing some wood…)
I gave THESE to the man a couple of years ago and they have been a hit.
He loves going to the movies; sometimes I think he just goes there to sleep. (Gift cards are always a hit.)
Which leads me to the mother of all gift cards for the outdoorsman in your life. THIS PLACE is the ultimate gift card. All roads lead to Cabela’s, amiright?
For your car guy maybe he’d like THIS.
If all else fails or you are especially poor this year…give the man a massage every night for a month and he’ll love you for it.
We are a house full of girls. We have girl dogs, a girl cat, girl bunnies, hens, and all girl kiddos. The only men around here are my guy, the deer, turkeys, and a few random other male birds. So there is a lot of emotions that swirl around the farm. At Christmas time we have to keep the human girls happy to avoid drama. 😉 These kinds of things seem to work.
Every year my youngest asks for a super comfy blanket. She loves to be comfy, getting her out of her pajamas is a problem sometimes.
Family games are always a hit around here. Then plan a game night and actually play them. 🙂
I know you are going to be like you are the lamest mom EVER but I’m totally putting books on this list. Of course they are Harry Potter books…Potter geeks over here!
So my 14 year old has somehow turned into kind of a girly girl. WHAT?! She loves make-up and perfume but can still play a mean game of bball & soccer and pick up poop and stuff so it’s all good.
Which brings me to clothes, because what 14 year old girl doesn’t love clothes, right? Here’s the deal with my 14 year old though, she has legs FOR DAYS and will be taller than all of us soon, she is also a size 2 (jeans are a problem.) Aeropostale has long jeans that are reasonably priced and fit well so they are one of my favorite places to buy them for her. We also love American Eagle when they have them on sale.
No bunny loving farm girl is complete without a harness and leash to take your bunny for a walk. This is a legit request from our youngest this year.
Lastly, if you are around children AT ALL you have noticed a weird obsession with slime. There is a whole section on Amazon dedicated to the making of it. Or you can just buy them a gallon of white Elmer’s Glue, they will love you forever. No, I am not kidding about this.
THE ONES WHO BUY ALL THE CHRISTMAS:
Any of THESE show a girl you care.
Cookbooks are like romance novels for me. I can read them like a book. I especially love my Pioneer Woman ones. They get used a lot around here.
Believe it or not…I love a good Home Depot gift card. That’s any DIYer’s favorite place. Let’s face it, even though I am a winter girl through and through; I am still a garden girl and I look forward to getting my hands in the soil. You can’t go wrong with a gift card to your garden girl’s nursery.
I am a BIG supporter of handmade and local small businesses so I try hard to buy local whenever I can. Get out and support those little business owners who put their heart and soul into what they love doing. I usually try and buy jewelry or clothing for my oldest from these. One of the best things about that is that they are usually unique and I love her to have special things that are personal. You can also buy gift cards for local favorite restaurants! SHAMELESS PLUG: If you are local we would love to provide you with a gift card for classes here at the Art Cabin. We have some really fun classes coming up this year and I really think the gift of some time here, spent with a loved one, is a fun idea. Email us if you agree and we’ll get one to you!
I could really just buy the oldest all the things. She is my favorite to buy for and it’s her birthday too!! So, she was my favorite Christmas present EVER.
Hope this helps for all you last minute shoppers, like myself. You will notice that lots of these come from Amazon…Primer here. The last couple of years I’ve had back issues so shopping is hard…Amazon Prime and Target free shipping have saved my bacon.
But the most important thing of all is to relax and enjoy this next week. If all the things aren’t done, it’s ok. You being present is the best thing you can give your people. I speak from experience. 🙂
