Can I tell you a secret?
Sometimes videos like this seriously piss me off. (sorry about the unladylike language)
I get so sick of hearing just work harder, dream harder, work through the disappointment and the feelings of self-doubt. What the h do these people know about any of this?? They are successful. People see them. Hear them.
It is HARD WORK to follow your dreams.
Sometimes it seems like SELFISH work to follow your dreams.
Sometimes people don’t get it, sometimes they really get it.
My dream isn’t one that some people understand.
It’s to create a safe space where women can create, love, breathe, connect.
Not in a religious space or a space where you are mom, wife, employee, sister, daughter…a space where you are just YOU.
Getting that out to the world has been frustrating & defeating at times.
I’ve wanted to quit 1,000 times and then someone gives me just the right bit of advice or encouragement. Because they can see the value in what I am trying to create.
I have to keep keeping on. I have to not give up. I have to not get broken down. I have to believe in myself. That is not easy sometimes. Sometimes it actually kind of sucks.
So, what does this have to do with you? Keep dreaming. Keep focused on that dream of yours, whatever it is. It doesn’t have to be work related. I have a cousin I admire so much. She accomplishes great things all the time. Her dreams are fitness related and I’ll tell you what, you can see the joy in her face when she does them. I know they aren’t easy dreams. I know running up a mountain isn’t easy. It takes practice and training and a fierce devotion to that dream. Believe me when I say watching her helps me. Share your defeats, share your successes, you never know who you are inspiring! You never know who keeps going because of you.
I have the most simple goal this year. Keep going. Don’t give up. My dream is worth the hard work. So is yours.
