I really wish sometimes we were all cozy in the Art Cabin sipping a cuppa your favorite drink and chit chatting about life. It would just be so rad, wouldn’t it? Yeah I think so too. So we’ll just pretend we are doing that today.

This Monday Motivational quote is a good chit chat subject. Life. It’s short and precious and crazy sometimes isn’t it? Two friends stopped by to see me tonight and we talked about how when you are ‘our age’ it all seems just a little bit more real. The fragility of it all. Our bodies are aging, our hands look older, our wrinkles are there along with the grey hairs and it isn’t going back to when we were 30. EVER. Don’t get me wrong, I am an embrace it kinda gal. I tell my girls I’ve earned every grey hair and they are multiplying quickly. I will grow old gracefully I hope. But dammit it’s hard sometimes to see it happening.
My middle aged rebellion is my t-shirts and my nose piercing. I know, big time REBEL over here. One of my very favorite t-shirts has the quote for today on it. I also have one that says, ‘Kiss my Grits’ from Junk Gypsy and I wear that one when I’m feeling really rebellious. (I could mimic Flo like a boss when I was 8.) I guess I’m just coming full circle. 😉
I love love love the saying for today though. I am an EPIC worry wort. For reals. I could put anyone to shame in the worry department. I just happened to also marry a very stressed out dude. The two of us together are just not fun sometimes. Between him stressing and me worrying it’s a wonder we ever leave the house. But here’s the deal…I want to LIVE. Like ‘to hell with it we are going on a trip last minute’ kinda stuff. He is having none of that. He will, however, always be willing to eat a good piece of cake so he’s got that down pat. We’ll get there eventually. We got a new house trailer and one of the conditions I put in place was we really go camping, so keep your fingers crossed for me getting to adventure out and it’s got an oven so cake can be made. 😉 As far as shoes go…I’m a farm girl who generally is wearing a hoodie and jeans, I’d rather buy plants and art supplies!
Here’s a little of the wisdom I have gained in my 45 years. It’s important to have fun, life goes by really really fast after you leave high school. One of the things I regret the most about my mothering skills is that I didn’t teach my oldest to just let loose and have fun. I’m always so worried about what might happen that I have a hard time just letting go and letting them live life to the fullest. I’m realizing that there is so much more in life than the next project or work. HAVE FUN!!! PLAY!! DANCE!! do all of the things and keep doing them as long as they add some joy to your life!! See new things, try new things, keep growing and learning and exploring and ADVENTURING!! I so wish that I could go back 20 years and redo this part. We have done some amazing things but we are both far too serious. So here’s to the next 40 being filled with more happiness and play time and less worry and work.
Will you do me a favor today? Do something you wouldn’t normally do. Something to celebrate this beautiful thing we call life!
